NIXON ARCHITECTURE
Our project experience includes custom homes and additions, cultural institutions, municipal and educational buildings, firehouses, office and retail buildings and interiors, hotels and tenant installations. Each design's style is a response to its circumstances. In the 1990's we were asked to upgrade a registered landmark former town hall to current accessibility and efficiency standards. We designed stair and elevator towers that respect the structure's 1890's architecture.
For another client we developed a design to turn his simple cottage into the modernist retreat of his dreams. As architects for a twenty-first century firehouse in a local historic district we adapted modern materials to create a vintage barn-style design.
Our staff has extensive experience with municipal planning and zoning regulations and we have planned residential subdivisions and numerous commercial site plans. In working with many challenging properties we have also negotiated a variety of variance approvals to help achieve our clients’ design goals while respecting community character.
